    About the Orthodox Calendar

The Orthodox liturgical year begins on September 1 and is organized around the Paschal cycle and the fixed feasts of Christ and the Theotokos. Each day carries a commemoration of saints, a fasting rule, and assigned Scripture readings from the Epistle and Gospel. OrthodoxIQ publishes every day of the year using the New Calendar (Revised Julian) followed by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and most Greek Orthodox parishes.
