Do Orthodox Christians pray to saints?
Orthodox Christians ask the saints to pray for them; worship belongs to God alone. The request is the same one you might make of a friend or a parish priest.

Today's Orthodox saint of the day — the commemoration appointed in the Greek Orthodox synaxarion.

Each day the Orthodox Church commemorates the saints whose witness shapes our faith — apostles, martyrs, monastics, and confessors drawn from two thousand years of Christian tradition. The daily commemoration is read at Vespers and Matins, and the saint's apolytikion (dismissal hymn) is sung at the Divine Liturgy. Return tomorrow for the next saint of the day.

Veneration is honor, not worship. As the Seventh Ecumenical Council taught, the honor given to an icon passes to the person it depicts.
The saint whose name you receive at baptism, whose prayers you ask through life, and whose feast you keep as your name day.
